Governor's Medicaid Cuts Could Be Less Than Expected


Check out the latest on Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour's plan to cut the state's Medicaid program by $375 million.

Hospitals and nursing homes fear they may have to close if the cuts go into effect.

This is an issue I've been following constantly since the day I moved to Mississippi.

This story is one I stumbled upon while covering political speeches today at the Neshoba County Fair in Philadelphia, MS. It's the same place I was yesterday.

Politicians Campaign at Neshoba County, MS Fair



Check out today's web story about politics at Mississippi's famous Neshoba County Fair. The fair rivals many state fairs as a huge yearly event that brings hundreds to the tiny town of Philadelphia, Mississippi.

Mississippi's U.S. Senate race is looking to be one of the most hotly contested in the nation when November elections come around.

The candidates; one a former governor, the other a current interim senator for the seat vacated by Sen. Trent Lott.

The two have been exchanging political blows for weeks and tensions rise as the two campaigned Wednesday among a huge pool of potential voters.
